Celebrating six years of Existence (2008- 2014)
St. Konrad Integrated Vocational School, which was opened under the name of ST. KONRAD INTEGRATED VOCATIONAL COLLEGE, celebrated its 6th anniversary on the 8th of February 2014. The ceremony was started with Holy Mass led by the Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese. The Bishop led a Thanksgiving Mass in which he underlined the fact of giving thanks to God especially for the gifts he bestows on his people and for the success in putting these gifts into practice. He thanked the Director, Fr. Pastor Mpora, for having developed his talents especially in initiating this school which every year continues to develop and to help the rural youth in the region.

The celebration of this anniversary was also intended to raise money for construction of Workshops for the School, since what is in place are only provisional off-cut constructed structures. His Excellence, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of Uganda was the invited Guest of Honour. Due to pressing state duties, His Excellency the President sent Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda to represent him. Other Guests who graced the celebration include Hon. Shemu Bageine, the Minister of East African Integration, Major Tukashaba Innocent, Brig. Charles Bakahumura accompanied with an entourage of high Military officials, Prof. Charles Kwesiga, Prof. Babugura of Kabale University, MP. Wilfred Niwagaba, the President of the Rotary Club of Masaka with his team, Members of Kabale District Local Government headed by LCV Chairman Mr. Keihwa, and many other dignitaries.
In his Speech to his Excellency, the President of Uganda, the Director requested that the Staff of St. Konrad Integrated Vocational School be seconded and paid as other civil servants. He also asked support to provide tools in the workshops. He further requested that St. Konrad Integrated Vocational School be connected to electricity mains which are just 10 kms away from the school. Lastly, he requested for substantial government support in the construction of the proposed workshop block.
The Representative of the President, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, conveyed the Message of the President who offered Ugx 20 million not cash. Dr. Rugunda further informed the public that the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Jessica Alupo was to send a Team of Officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports regarding the construction of the Workshops. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda also informed the people present that an arrangement was to be made to create a Partnership between the State and the Church concerning the School. The Representative of the President praised St. Konrad Integrated Vocational School for pioneering the Vision which the Government is planning to implement in her schools. In his Words, “the Government will copy from St. Konrad Integrated Vocatioanl School” regarding the integration of Skills to Secondary School Education. The Fundraising drive realized about Ugx 40 million in cash and pledges.
The Director is thankful to all the people who organized for this occasion and especially to the many people who attended and made the day colourful and successful.
